The Bachelor’s/DDS Pathway to Dentistry program is a classic “4+4” model, comprising four years of undergraduate study followed by a transition to a four-year Doctor of Dental Surgery program. Undergraduate education is conducted at the Indiana University School of Science in Indianapolis, after which students transfer to the School of Dentistry. The program was developed through inter-departmental collaboration and largely replicates the structure of a similar Bachelor’s/MD program successfully implemented by the university earlier.

Academic preparation is focused on natural sciences and behavioral disciplines, forming a solid foundation for subsequent dental education. This approach enables the early integration of fundamental knowledge with future clinical specialization.
