Endodontic instruments COLTENE: HyFlex K-Files line and integration of manual diagnostic phase

COLTENE introduced a new tool for the diagnostic stage of root canal treatment. HyFlex K-Files are designed for manual canal exploration and initial preparation, providing clinicians with tactile feedback about root canal anatomy, its curvature, and possible calcification.

Manual exploration as an important stage of the workflow

Files made of twisted stainless steel are integrated into the HyFlex endodontic workflow, occupying a place between the diagnostic stage and instrumentation using a motor. At this initial stage of canal preparation, manual files allow the clinician to assess the condition and complexity of the clinical case before proceeding to motorized instrumentation.

According to Francesca Wahl, product manager for endodontics at COLTENE: «HyFlex K-Files add the necessary manual starting point to the endodontic treatment workflow, allowing for complete canal preparation using the HyFlex product family».

Support at early stages of treatment

The files help clinicians determine case complexity at an early stage and select the optimal instrumentation sequence, minimizing mechanical stress during initial canal processing. Together with COLTENE’s complete line of restorative materials, the instruments provide seamless transition from endodontic treatment to restoration.

HyFlex K-Files are supplied in blister packs of six pre-sterilized files in the ISO 06–45 range with lengths of 21, 25, and 31 mm, allowing the practitioner to select an instrument according to the specific features of each case.
