• In 1982, Dr. Gutmann was appointed tenured professor and chair 
of the Department of Endodontics at the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, and later Professor and Director of the Endodontic Graduate Program in the Baylor Department of Restorative Sciences.

• Dr. Gutmann is the editor of the Journal of the History of Dentistry. 
He was President of the American Association of Endodontists and 
President of the American Academy of Dental History.

• He has presented over 800 lectures, articles and refresher courses. 
In addition, he is the author and co-author of over 375 articles 
in dental journals, textbooks. He is the senior author of a textbook 
on endodontics called «Problem Solving in Endodontics» and a senior co-author of Surgical Endodontics, Clinician’s Handbook 
of Endodontics.

• From 1970 until 1988, Dr. Cohen served as Chairman of the Department of Endodontics at the Arthur A. Dugoni School 
of Dentistry, University of the Pacific, where he has continued his commitment to education as Adjunct Clinical Professor 
of Endodontics.

• He is an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Endodontics in the Department
of Preventive and Restorative Dentistry, University of California, San Francisco.

• Dr. Cohen was the senior editor of all nine editions of the definitive endodontics textbook, Pathways of the Pulp, and he was been  
a coeditor of the 10th and 11th editions, which were renamed Cohen’s Pathways of the Pulp. He is also a coeditor of the textbook A Clinical Guide to Dental Traumatology.
