Over 30 months, half received a high-dose prescription drug containing EPA and DHA, while the control group received no supplements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gingival fluid samples were collected from maxillary quadrants.<\/strong> Researchers compared inflammatory markers in gingival fluid and systemic inflammation markers in blood between groups.<\/p>\n<h2>Results and Conclusions<\/h2>\n<p>The omega-3 group demonstrated <strong>a significant reduction in one of the periodontal inflammation markers, predominantly in the left quadrant.<\/strong> These patients also exhibited a lower neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio \u2014 a marker of systemic inflammation associated with cardiovascular outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Ahmad suggested that lateral differences may be related to individual oral hygiene practices and dominant hand: right-handed individuals likely more effectively remove dental plaque from the left side.
