Notably, the average number of <strong>missing and restored teeth<\/strong> was nearly identical to government estimates \u2014 this coincidence, according to the developers, confirms the reliability of their artificial intelligence-based methodology.<\/p>\n<p>Pearl explains the discrepancy by stating that <strong>radiographic methods<\/strong> are capable of detecting carious lesions that are inaccessible during visual-tactile examination. This fact underscores the persisting inequality in access to routine dental care and indicates the influence of socioeconomic factors on clinical decision-making.<\/p>\n<p>When compared with British data, the study established substantial differences in the structure of treatment practice between the USA and Great Britain, suggesting that healthcare financing models influence decisions regarding restoration or extraction of severely damaged teeth. These differences confirm that not only clinical factors but also organizational aspects of the healthcare system determine the choice of therapeutic approaches.<\/p>\n<h2>Perspectives and practical application<\/h2>\n<p>The obtained results demonstrate the potential of artificial intelligence in transforming the monitoring of oral health at the population level through the ability to process radiographs with necessary consistency and at a scale unattainable with manual analysis. The technology enables the detection of <strong>hidden lesions<\/strong> that traditional examination methods miss, providing more accurate determination of the true burden of caries disease in the population.<\/p>\n<p>Pearl proposes using these data to inform public health policy, improve dental education, establish quality standards for insurance programs, and conduct future research. The index can serve as a benchmark for assessing progress in improving oral health and expanding access to care, as well as act as a tool for identifying priority intervention zones in the context of uneven distribution of dental resources.
