Professor Thomas Albrektsson<\/strong>, author of widely applied criteria for evaluating implant success, challenged the traditional view of marginal bone resorption by presenting data pointing to an immunological mechanism of the process<\/strong>, rather than solely an infectious one. “The Fourth Revolution”: The Transition from Anatomy to Biology<\/h2>\n

MegaGen’s Chief Executive Officer Doctor Kwangbum Park<\/strong> characterized the current period as the “fourth revolution” in implantology \u2014 a transition from anatomically oriented reconstruction to a biologically justified, patient-centered approach<\/strong>. He emphasized that with the growing share of elderly patients and a shift in medicine’s paradigm toward aging, extensive bone grafting should no longer be considered a standard solution for insufficient bone tissue. This reconceptualization reflects a change in clinical philosophy toward minimizing surgical trauma and optimizing the biological response to implantation.<\/p>\n

“The next era of implantology will be evaluated by how gently and effectively we restore the patient’s quality of life,” noted Doctor Park, emphasizing the importance of functional and aesthetic outcomes in the context of the patient’s overall well-being.<\/p>\n

The New Toronto Declaration and Symposium Conclusions<\/h2>\n

The symposium presented the New Toronto Declaration<\/strong> \u2014 a document that defines 13 principles for the development of implantology based on an in-depth understanding of biological processes of osseointegration and long-term clinical data. This declaration serves as a guide for clinical research and practice for the coming decades.<\/p>\n

The symposium exhibition included a virtual museum<\/strong> honoring pioneers of the half-century history of implantology, as well as a demonstration of MegaGen’s integrated digital solution, covering the entire treatment cycle: from diagnosis and planning to final restoration.
