Minimally invasive dentistry in the healthcare system: Bupa Dental Care and the transformation of caries prevention

British network Bupa Dental Care has entered into a partnership with Swiss company vVARDIS to expand access to a minimally invasive method for stopping and reversing early-stage caries. The innovative approach allows clinicians to intervene before filling becomes necessary, preserving the healthy tooth structure.

Early intervention as the foundation of prevention

In England, caries remains one of the leading causes of hospitalization in early childhood. Bupa Dental Care emphasizes that the introduction of Curodont Repair aligns with its strategy of preventive care and positive patient experience, particularly for people experiencing dental phobia. According to the network’s specialists, an early positive experience shapes a patient’s attitude towards dental care for life.

Neil Sikka, Director of Dental Services at Bupa Dental Care, noted that offering Curodont Repair to patients and insurance programme clients expands the clinicians’ arsenal for treating incipient caries prior to the filling stage. This makes it possible to preserve the healthy tooth structure and provide patients with more choices in treatment options.

vVARDIS co-founders Haley and Goli Abiwaldie stated their intention to change the paradigm of caries management through the implementation of non-invasive approaches, which increases patient confidence in the necessity of dental treatment and positive perception of preventive care.
