Universal Materials in Restorative Dentistry: Kuraray Portfolio and Clinical Protocol Transformation

Modern clinical practice presents contradictory requirements: with shortened working schedules and growing financial constraints, dentists must provide highly aesthetic, minimally invasive restorations with long-term prognosis. Kuraray Noritake Dental proposed an approach that makes it possible to reduce technical complexity without compromising quality.

Adhesive dentistry: simplification through universalism

The development of adhesive technologies has expanded the possibilities of conservative tooth preparation and the application of composite and ceramic restorations. However, reliable bonding to various tooth substrates requires careful selection of materials and specific surface pretreatment, which complicates clinical protocols and makes standardization of working stages difficult.

Kuraray’s answer lies in the development of universal materials that adapt to multiple indications, techniques, and substrates without increasing procedural burden. The essence of innovations is not in technological complexity, but in practical simplification: materials work synergistically, reducing the number of clinical steps and result variability.

Portfolio of five key components

The universal set includes: CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2 (adhesive); CLEARFIL MAJESTY ES-2 Universal (paste composite); CLEARFIL MAJESTY ES Flow Universal (flowable composite); PANAVIA SA Cement Universal (resin cement for luting); KATANA Cleaner (surface cleanser).

When used in combination, these materials significantly reduce procedure duration, decrease technique-dependent errors, optimize inventory logistics, and maintain stability of clinical results. The goal is to work more efficiently without losing quality.
